What is Citrix?

Founded in 1989, Citrix is an American multinational cloud computing company. It provides software as a service (SaaS), application virtualization, and server virtualization. It also provides networking and desktop virtualization. The company’s founder, Ed Iacobucci, served as chairman until 2000. Its technology has been in partnership with Microsoft for years.

Citrix began by developing remote access products for Microsoft operating systems. It quickly became a leader in thin client technology. It also launched its first initial public offering in 1995. It experienced major revenue growth between 1995 and 1999.

Citrix allows companies to remotely access and control their desktops and applications. They use a software called WorkSpace to create a secure connection to a Citrix server. The server then enables users to access their computer’s applications and files.
